History

           “The Foundation for Community Health, Bangkok” was established on 22 November, 1979 by Dr. Chek  Dhanasiri with its initial office located at the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration City Hall, Dinso Road.

           In 1983, H.R.H. Princess Galyani Vadhana Krom Luang Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra graciously accepted the Foundation to be under Her Royal Pratronage as the Foundation played an important role in providing assistance on health care services for the under privileged in slums.  The Foundation was renamed afterwards as “the Foundation for Community Health under the Patronage of  H.R.H. Princess Galyani Vadhana Krom Luang Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra, in order to be able to expand its services to other areas, not only in Bangkok.

           The Foundation was announced by the Ministry of Finance as a charity organization number 359 on August 31, 1999 and it was exempted from Income Tax and VAT.

            In 2000, the Foundation office moved from the BMA City Hall to the fifth floor of the Public Health Service Center 41 Building, Klongtoey as the new location is close to the biggest slum area of Bangkok.H.R.H. Princess Galyani Vadhana Krom Luang Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra graciously presided over the Foundation office’s opening ceremony on April 18, 2000.

Policy

           The Foundation implements projects and activities in line with theRoyal Initiative of the Late King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s Mother, H.R.H. Princess Srinagarindra and H.R.H. Princess Galyani Vadhana Krom Luang Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra, to provide welfare support to the less privileged for a better quality of life.

Objectives

  1. To promote and implement activities - public health services and public charity for a better living condition of the less privileged.
  2. To provide assistance for needy people who have health problems.
  3. To work and cooperate with other government and private agencies for public interest.
  4. To promote spiritual, moral and ethical values among people in the community.
  5. To provide welfare support for people and government officers affected from disasters.
  6. To implement non-political projects and activities.

Activities / Services

Medical and Public Health Services

           The Foundation provides mobile medical services in the needy communities to enhance the quality of life both physically and mentally.

  1. Physical, oral and teeth examinationand treatment
  2. Disease prevention and control
    • X-ray service to find pulmonary tuberculosis for treatment.
    • Blood test to check blood sugar (diabetes) for treatment
    • Blood pressure condition searching for treatment
    • Bone mass examination
    • Counseling and advice for individual and family’s wellness.
  3. Health Promotion – providing eyeglasses for the elders
  4. Sterilization and vaccination of animals against rabies

Public Charities

  • To provide assistance to people in distress - the elders, handicapped and the disabled, people with chronic disease, abandoned children and families affected from disasters, etc. to alleviate their sufferings and burdens for better living conditions. They are provided with rice, survival bags (consumer goods), and other essentials
  • To promote moral and ethical project for the juvenile delinquent during probation
  • To provide peace of mind development project with Vipassana-Kammatthana (the act of meditation or contemplation) for civil servants and general public
  • To promote and develop both medical and nursing services.
